It's All About the Taste

Only purebred Dexter cattle are kept on our smallholding, we do not cross them with any other breed. As a native breed, our Dexters thrive on our old pasture but are happy to spend some time comfortably indoors munching through the summer hay during the long wet winters, so typical in this region of Wales.

Much as we love our cattle, we are not vegetarians and prefer to eat beef from animals that we have raised, rather than meat of dubious origin and poor quality. As you might have gathered, we do not produce beef on a large scale - taking in only one or two animals a year for ourselves with the surplus being sold.

We feel really privileged that we are able to enjoy such high quality beef because it is so hard to find in the shops these days.  This is because farmers and retailers are under ever increasing pressure to cut their costs but we make quality our priority when producing beef for our own table.

So passionate are we about producing beef of a consistent quality, that we invested in a cold store so that it can mature in the traditional way, ensuring tenderness with a deep intense flavour - just like it used to taste in the past.

We are especially particular about the way our beef is presented and further invested in a cutting room, so that it can be butchered and packed under our watchful eye at home.   If you are wondering whether all this effort is worth the time and trouble.....

Why not try some for yourself and find out?
