About the SchemeJoining a health scheme provides assurance that we are doing all that we can to protect our herd and to offer reassurance to those who purchase from us that they are not buying in trouble. The scheme involves adhering to very strict bio-security regimes in preventing contact between our animals and those belonging to others. To minimise the risk of bringing infection into our herd, we do not attend sales, we do not borrow bulls or hire them out and neither do we buy in stock with the intention of selling them on to others. We are required to have the herd tested at regular intervals by our veterinary surgeon for BVD, IBR, Leptospirosis and Johne's Disease - four diseases that are prevalent in both beef and dairy herds in the UK. Our herd passed the 1st Qualifying Tests on 15/09/2011 for Johne's, IBR, BVD and Leptospirosis. In addition, we tested clear for TB on 4th October 2011.
